If you’re a college or university student seeking Kauai internships in sustainable economic development, you’ve come to the right place! We work to help place students in a variety of fields throughout the year, at a multitude of sites across the island by partnering with like-minded organizations! We have three different types of internship programs available:
Open Enrollment Group Service Trips:
We aim to schedule two to three open enrollment service trips per year during heavy internship periods. These internships have a cost associated, as accommodations, travel, and logistics are covered. They are a great option for those who want to be a bit more hands-on in a group setting that allows for lots of socializing, without the fuss of heavy responsibility or finding your own accommodations. See Open Enrollment Group Service Trips here.
AmeriCorps VISTA Year-Long Service Terms:
AmeriCorps VISTA is a full-time, year-long service program in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service. Some of the year-long placements we typically have available include those in Farm-to-School, Fundraising & Grant Writing, Volunteer Coordinator, and more. If this is something you’re considering please read the VISTA Program FAQ and review our current listings.
Individualized Kauai Internships:
Individualized internships are a bit higher-level, for students who have the ability to work self-directed. You’ll work short-term, but a bit more in-depth on a specific project, or job shadow and work alongside a project or program manager working on a sustainable development project or program on island. These internships do not include any kind of living allowance, accommodations, or transportation and are best for students receiving credit and a stipend from their college or university.
