Join Surfrider for a month of service opportunities, ocean care, and ocean celebration. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Kauai’s beaches and waves, and join like-minded folks who are committed to keeping our beaches free of marine debris. Surfrider Kauai along with the help of community members and visitors have been performing beach cleanups and net patrol programs since August, 2006.
Below is a schedule of Surfrider’s upcoming events for June, 2018:
Wednesday, June 6:
Surfrider Marine Debris Processing Center (4532 Lehua St. in Kapaa) from 3:00-6:00 pm; Volunteers to sort and weigh debris from past clean-ups.
Friday, June 8:
World Oceans Day Beach Cleanup and Net Patrol, 3:30-6:00 pm; Meet at Donkey Beach parking lot. Beach Cleanup at Donkey Beach and hike into the coves to Crack 13 and Glass Beach.
Friday, June 8:
World Oceans Day Celebration with Mark Jaffer and Storybook Theater in Hanapepe, 5:30-8:30 pm. Inflatable humpback whales, tiger shark, dolphin, and coral reef with Marine Life Puppets & Costumes!
Saturday, June 9:
Blue Water Task Force, Water Quality testing island-wide. Results available Sunday afternoon.
Tuesday, June 12:
Executive Committee monthly Meeting @ 5:30 pm at Mariachi’s Kapaa, Public is Welcome.
Wednesday, June 13:
Net Patrol at Papa‘a Bay, 3:30-6:00 pm. Gloves provided, bring water, hat, and sunscreen.
Saturday, June 16:
International Surfing Day Celebration from 8:00-11:30 am. Beach Clean-up with B*Rad Foundation and Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park. Meet at Kamalani Playground in Lydgate Park, look for tents. Light breakfast and coffee provided, lunch served at 11:30. Gloves provided, bring water, hat, and sunscreen.
Wednesday, June 20:
Net Patrol at Hanama‘ulu Beach Park, 3:30-6:00 pm. Gloves provided, bring water, hat, and sunscreen.
Wednesday, June 27:
Net Patrol at Aliomanu Estates, 4:00-6:00 pm. Gloves provided, bring water, hat, and sunscreen.
Saturday, June 30:
Beach Clean-up at Nukoli‘i with Adventures Cross Country Teens from 9:00-11:30 am. Meet at restrooms south of Kauai Beach Resort, follow our signs (turn right) before you get to hotel. Gloves provided, bring water, hat, and sunscreen.
